A question, a bug or an idea? Every message comes to me, the developer.

Email me

support@serversidekick.app for help, bug reports and feature requests. You'll get an automatic acknowledgement with a ticket number, and a reply from a person.

Check the FAQ

Answers about SSH keys, sudo, host keys, network scans and backups are in the FAQ.

Security issue?

Please report it privately. How to report a vulnerability.

Contact me from the app

In the app, open Settings and choose Support or Feedback. Either opens an email to me in your own mail app.

What to include in a bug report

  • The device and its OS version (for example, iPhone 17 on iOS 26, or a Pixel on Android 16), and the app version from Settings → About.
  • What the server runs (for example, Ubuntu 24.04 or FreeBSD 14), and whether you log in as root, with sudo, or as an ordinary user.
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps.
  • Whether it happens every time.

Please never send passwords or private keys. I will never ask for them.

The diagnostics log

The app keeps a log of the errors and warnings it runs into, on your device. Host names, addresses, usernames, commands and secrets are removed before anything is written to it. To send it with a report, open Settings → Diagnostics, read it if you like, and choose Email support. Nothing in the log is sent unless you do this.

Reporting a security vulnerability

Please email support@serversidekick.app with Security in the subject line, and don't disclose the issue publicly until a fix has been released. Reports are kept confidential. Please include:

  • a description of the vulnerability and its potential impact;
  • steps to reproduce it, or a proof of concept;
  • the affected version(s) and platform(s).

Only the latest released version receives security fixes. I'll acknowledge your report as soon as I can and keep you updated while I work on a fix. Once it is released, I'll credit you in the release notes unless you'd prefer to stay anonymous. A machine-readable contact is at /.well-known/security.txt.

Data requests

The app sends me nothing, so there is no account to delete. To ask what I hold about you, such as emails you've sent me, or to have it deleted, email support@serversidekick.app from that address, or tell me which address it was. I answer within 30 days. The privacy policy has the details.

Who makes it

Server Sidekick is made by one developer, Joshua Akers, through SERVER SIDEKICK LLC, a Virginia company in the United States. The privacy policy and terms of use are the company's, so they say "we".
